An asylum seeker who sexually assaulted a seven-year-old in an immigration hostel has had his jail sentence increased by 18 months. Afsar Safi pulled the girl into his room, grabbed her by the waist and kissed her on the cheek at a London hostel on September 6 last year.Safi, who entered the UK via a small boat in 2021, denied the charges but was convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault of a child during a trial in April.He was jailed for two years and six months, but the Court of Appeal has now ruled the sentence was "unduly lenient".
