AI impersonators tricked Fideuram, Intesa Sanpaolo’s private-banking subsidiary, into transferring €95 million after combining WhatsApp messages with a convincing deepfake phone call. Authorities recovered about €53 million, but roughly €36 million was converted into cryptocurrency and remains missing. Source
