Finnish startup S-Transistors has raised €2.6 million in pre-seed funding in a round led by Lifeline Ventures, with participation from an angel investor. Spun out of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the company is developing superconducting transistor-based integrated circuits aimed initially at addressing the control and signal-routing challenges of cryogenic quantum computers. Its technology is designed to reduce the power consumption and physical footprint of electronics used to operate quantum processors, where conventional room-temperature electronics and extensive cabling can create scaling constraints.
