Labour has been urged to cut down on prison recalls in a push to free up jail spaces. A new report by Nacro, a criminal justice charity, found there were 9,900 prisoners in jail after being recalled despite facing no new charges.Many of those who do breach their licences have been recalled because they were homeless and failed to comply with curfews.Now, Nacro is encouraging ministers to overhaul the system to reduce the numbers being put back behind bars for minor breaches of their licence.
