Google Photos was wasting 15 gigabytes on things I never asked it to save

Ever since I switched to Pixel phones, I've used Google Photos like an invisible utility. It ran in the background, backed everything up, and quietly turned into a digital junk drawer for my phone. It organized my photos, sure, but it also never really made me look at just how much media it was organizing, until it was too late.
