AWS tells engineers to cut CPU waste as agentic AI strains EC2 capacity

AWS is asking engineers to shut down idle EC2 instances and reduce CPU waste as demand from agentic AI workloads tightens capacity. About 65% of EC2 instances reportedly average less than 20% CPU utilization over 30 days, while some engineers now wait days for capacity that was previously available within hours. Source
