The states of the West seem desperate for domestic violence. You can see it in bloody-minded agitation for open war with Russia, relentless stoking of the charnel house of Ukraine, not to mention complicity in the genocide in Gaza and the horrors meted out to the civilians of Lebanon. But Western states seem to me every bit as eager for violence on the streets of home. I say desperation for violence might be explained on the grounds that without it, the dream of total control must remain out of reach. In order to get across the line with the bid for popular acceptance of the digital cage, which is to say, round the clock surveillance, a citizen's access to his own money made entirely dependent on that citizens behaviour being deemed...
