I replaced 5 Play Store apps with open-source versions and the ads completely vanished

I've been using the same handful of Android apps for years, mostly out of habit. YouTube for video, Spotify for podcasts, Google Maps for getting around. They work fine, mostly, but between the ads, the tracking, and the subscription nudges, they've gotten harder to love.
