I ditched VS Code for this 20-year-old editor and never looked back

I'm a big fan of VS Code. In fact, I think VS Code is the perfect writing app, or at least that used to be the case. At some point, VS Code stopped being a text editor and became a platform. Now, depending on what you're using it for, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Unless you just want to open a file, write some code, and get on with your day.
